Our StoryDuring the spring of high school junior year, three of us – Brien Johnson, Leo Hanneman, and Shane Totall – started looking into the process of printing custom designs on socks. As avid athletes, we felt that unique socks could give us something other teams didn’t have, even as sports apparel became more focused on fashion. We researched the process and costs of starting a business, and concluded that it was just too expensive.
One sad year of mundane socks later, the three had saved up some money from summer and school-year jobs and were ready to give it another go. This time, Cam Tipping and Tyler Larson came in to add their skills to the mix. Everyone chipped in, and the five of us bought the necessary equipment. Not long after, a company name and logo were developed, designs were dreamed up, a website was launched, and Alta Apparel was a registered business. Now focused on adding flair to anyone’s wardrobe, Alta prints both one-off custom designs as well as team and club patterns. As sophomores in college, we hope to gain valuable experience and knowledge while enjoying the ride. |
